White Pine School enjoys Christmas in Mexico.

Feliz Navidad!

Lots of fantastic food, fun, and learning took place at White Pine School on December 4, 2018, for students and their families. In conjunction with the annual Supper with Santa hosted by school staff to promote literacy.  Familia ESL and the ESL teachers created a cultural experience for White Pine students and their families. Familia ESL shared the sights, sounds, tastes, and cultural highlights of a traditional Mexican Christmas for all who attended.  Hispanic families prepared tamales, posole, atole, pan dulce,  and many more tasty treats. Student ambassadors greeted guests, answered questions, and helped serve food to hungry attendees.  One family prepared rosca de reyes and explained the story behind that special cake. The student ambassador group made a pinata by hand that will be broken open at the Cinco de Mayo fiesta in May.  Many of the parents who participated in the Christmas in Mexico event regularly attend adult English classes at the school. A great time was had by all!
