Subjects Taught
Third Grade

Education

I graduated from the College of Charleston in South Carolina in 1995. My degrees were in Anthropology and German. I received my Master's of Teaching degree from Carson-Newman College in 2004. I later earned my Education Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University.

Experience

I have been teaching since 2004. I spent seven years teaching 5th grade at Dandridge Elementary. I taught 5th grade the first year that Mount Horeb Elementary opened. I am currently looping from 3rd to 5th grade. I get to keep the same children for three years!! :)

I have had many other work experiences. I have worked in the Archive of Folk Culture in the Library of Congress, as a river guide on several area rivers, as a server, and as a camp teacher/counselor. I loved every single one of those jobs- but I am very happy to be doing what I am currently doing!

Bio

I am a military "brat"!  My father served for 24 years in the Air Force, so I was afforded many amazing experiences living abroad. After graduating from the College of Charleston, I moved to Washington, D.C. to work for a year. I loved it, but did get tired of all the hustle and bustle. I decided to take my best friend from college's offer of a summer job working on the Pigeon River in Hartford, TN. I moved from downtown D.C. to a small cabin in the mountains of East Tennessee! I planned to work for the summer and return to the big city. Then- I met my husband! We now have two children. Noah is in middle school and Maizy will be in Kindergarten next year. They are wonderful and we enjoy them very much!

We live in the booming metropolis of Newport. We enjoy hiking in the nearby forests and National Parks.

My favorite things to do include reading (anything with a well created world I can drop into!), riding bikes, cooking, and spending time with family!
